Hello
My name is Ellie and I am the current Chair of Yorkshire Cogs & Roses Cycle Club.
This year I was going to be working with a team of fabulous women leading the Ride Angels in the Yorkshire Lass Sportive but as with so many events this year it wasn’t meant to be.
I did however take part in the Virtual Yorkshire Lass Sportive and felt that sense of togetherness which is so special and representative of the sportive.
Those of you who have taken part in the sportive previously are probably aware of the changes that have taken place over the past 12 months for many of the women who help Jude run this event. Many of the familiar faces that have worked so hard since 2015 are still very much present today. Yorkshire Cogs & Roses are proud supporters of the YL Sportive and proud of how we got to where we are today – our motto is #strongertogther and we certainly are!
On a personal note to all – many of us got into cycling for various reasons – keeping fit, a divorce, an illness, a personal challenge………whatever your reason keep going, keep challenging yourself, keep having having the giggles, keep eating the cake. It’s been a difficult time for us all this year and cycling is such a great escape and so good for our physical and mental health as well as the environment. Whenever I attend the Yorkshire Lass Sportive I am always blown away by the women that take part, the atmosphere is like no other event. When groups of women come together they are so powerful, I don’t ever want the day to finish, I am left on such a high. 1st August 2021 is already in my calendar, I really look forward to meeting as many of you as possible next year, I think it’s going to be really special.
